He has former experience at Occidental Chemical Corporation for five years as a process engineer. Before DOW changed to OXY, he worked there for 30 years in leadership. His degree is from Ohio State University.

He is the Sexton for Pere Marquette Cemetary and works with funeral homes and Catholic parishes.

He is the treasuruer for the Mason County Republican Party.

He knows airplanes. He is on the Mason County Pilots Association and he knows fish, he is the director for the county walleye association.
