Welcome to the Ludington Experiment
...I want to work with the other councilors to do all the things I am saying… if I am elected. I want our unity focused in the greater good. The greater good does not involve a persons own aspirations… or working for the aspirations of another.

Ludington's business/governmental relationships do not have to be one hand washing the other.
I am absolutely in love with Ludington and I plan on living here for the rest of my life. I go to church here and I work for our city’s post office.
4th Ward, I want to be your representative in our city hall. I have been through thick and thin in my three years in our city and I have learned a lot about how to handle hard experiences…
What I am saying is…you can count on the fact that we can hold our ground… if you elect me.
I will not betray you.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Marco C. Iafrate

Of all the prominent citizens of Ludington, he had a bigger heart/wallet for people than than anyone else.
Marco's Campaign Letter
There are too many people from out of town who move here thinking they can run for election and represent people who've already settled in Ludington.
Our situation dates all the way back into the youthful history of our city. There were two sort of people who built our town in the 1800s: people who cared for the city like a father would and others who settled and left town as soon as they depleted the resources for their lumber yards.
Many who have no loyalty to our city are running it. They have no interest in toughing things out through hard times so they resort to pretending to represent us.
As for me I moved to the Ludington area from Metro Detroit 3 years ago. I settled in Custer and shortly after moved to Ludington.
I want to speak about Justus S. Stearns, the man who our beach is named after. He was a businessman and politician in our town's history who's care for the people in the 4th Ward did not end at their paycheck.
Like a real father, his heart was for Ludington even though he was not born here. I haven't found out why he cared so much, but history shows he did care. I love this man and he is my hero and my inspiration for running for the 4th Ward seat in the City Council.
My hope is that the politics in our city will change starting this year… to be a real relationship between the council and the voters. I think that can happen one step at a time if we come together as a ward.
As a citizen of our city, I do not care to put any citizen under my feet. I do not like when I see authorities in our city do that. I do not care to bear a party affiliation when I see that sort of behavior coming from both sides.
It's a problem that touches my soul and if there is a political party in town for being untouchable, I want in.
I love my neighborhood. I like the people in it. I like our 4th Ward mayor. I do not desire to see the 4th Ward or any part of our city become a replication of Traverse City's culture or economic development.
I want our city to be the calm and peaceful city that people remember growing up in. I want the people who retire here to keep the dream they had when they said, “I want to retire to a small and quite beach-front community.”

Moreover, I want to defend our community from bad ideas disguised as ordinances...... (scroll for remainder)
